Produksi dan Sifat Fisik Hidrogel Komposit Selulosa - Polivinil Alkohol

Telah dilakukan penelitian pembuatan hidrogel berbahan dasar bioselulosa. Penelitian ini dimulai dengan observasi potensi penggunaan MSG sebagai sumber nitrogen dalam pembuatan hidrogel dengan menggunakan 4 perlakuan (ZA 0.5 (kontrol), MSG 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5%). Pada level MSG 0.5 and 1.0%, produksi lembaran tidak berbeda nyata dengan kontrol pada parameter berat gel dan water holding capacity (WHC). Sebagai tindak lanjut, resep pembuatan MSG 0.5% digunakan untuk membuat lembaran bioselulosa. Hidrogel yang telah dibersihkan dengan larutan NaOH dan Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, lalu diperkuat dengan 5% Polivinil Alcohol (PVA) menunjukan tingkat transparansi yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan hidrogen tanpa PVA. Penambahan PVA mampu memperbaiki beberapa kekurangan sifat fisik pada hidrogel. Namun demikian, perlu dilakukan studi lebih lanjut untuk mendapatkan lebih banyak informasi mengenai sifat mekanis dari hidrogel tersebut.
