Abstract

The Bawan–Kuala Kurun Provincial Road has suffered damage to its pavement layer, resulting in a decline in road service levels. This damage needs to be analyzed to determine the causes and identify appropriate treatment alternatives. This study aims to identify the types of road damage and assess the condition of the pavement so that repair methods can be determined. The evaluation was conducted using two approaches, namely the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method and the Bina Marga method. The road section reviewed was the 10 km Sepang Kota–Rabauh segment. The analysis results showed an average PCI value of 32.6693. Based on the PCI classification, this value falls within the range of 26–40, which is classified as poor condition, requiring maintenance measures to prevent further damage. Meanwhile, the assessment using the Bina Marga method yielded a value of 10.4193. Based on the Bina Marga priority scale in the range of 7–10, this condition is recommended for routine maintenance. Thus, the combination of these two methods can provide an overview of the road pavement condition and help determine the appropriate type of treatment to improve road performance.
