Author Guidlines

Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished manuscripts that have not been submitted elsewhere. Manuscripts should reflect scholarly research, conceptual frameworks, or empirical studies relevant to Islamic Education, Intellectual Discourse, and Islamic Thought.

  1. General Format Template
    ✓ Manuscript length: 5,000–8,000 words (excluding references). Maximum 15 pages in Ms. Word.
    ✓ Written in English (Preferred) or Bahasa Indonesia with proper academic style.
    ✓ Typed in Palatino Linotype 11 pt, 1.15 spacing, on A4 size paper.
    ✓ References by Mendeley follow the APA (7th edition) citation style.
    ✓ Each article must include:
    - Title (max. 14 words)
    - Author(s) name, affiliation, and corresponding email
    - Abstract (150–250 words) and 4–6 keywords (Contains, Purpose, Methods, Results, Implications)
    - The substantiation for articles includes: Introduction, Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, and References (by Mendeley)
  2. Particular Instructions
    1. Scope of the Article
      Submitted articles should be the result of field research or literature studies in the fields of Islamic Education, Islamic Thought, Philosophy of Islamic Studies, Islamic Intellectual Tradition, and Contemporary Thought.
    2. Manuscript Structure
      1. Title: The title should be concise, clear, and accurately reflect the content of the article. It must not exceed 14 words, written in English and in bold typeface. If the article is written in Arabic, the title must also include a Latin transliteration.
      2. Abstract: The abstract must be written in English and Indonesian (if the article is in Arabic, the abstract should be written in Arabic and English). It should consist of a single paragraph not exceeding 250 words, containing:
        a. The background and purpose of the study
        b. Research methods
        c. Main findings
        d. Implications of the research
        e. Abbreviations and citations are not allowed in the abstract.
      3. Keywords: Include 3–5 keywords or phrases, arranged alphabetically and separated by commas (,).
      4. Introduction: This section presents the background of the study, literature review, research originality, objectives, and methods. The length of this section should be approximately 20% of the total manuscript.
      5. Theoretical Framework: This section elaborates on the theories or scientific approaches used to analyze the data. The length of this section should be approximately 15% of the total manuscript.
      6. Findings and Discussion: This section should describe the research results and provide a critical analysis that connects the findings with previous studies and relevant literature. It should include the strengths, limitations, and implications of the study. The length of this section should be approximately 60% of the total manuscript.
      7. Conclusion: The conclusion should be presented in paragraph form (without bullet points or numbering), summarizing the main findings, analytical synthesis, and contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the field. The length of this section should be approximately 5% of the total manuscript.
      8. Acknowledgment (if any): This section may include acknowledgment of individuals, institutions, or agencies that contributed to the completion of the research.
      9. Bibliography:
        • References should ideally be drawn from the last 10 years.
        • References must be arranged alphabetically and formatted according to the APA Style 7th edition (full note).
        • All sources listed in the bibliography must appear in the text, and vice versa.
        • Include the DOI for each reference when available.
        • Authors are encouraged to use Mendeley or Zotero as reference management software.
      10. Tables and Figures:
        • The relationship between tables/figures and the text should be clear. Authors must explain what readers should pay attention to when referring to tables or figures.
        • Table titles and figure captions must be written in editable text format (not images).
        • Tables and figures should be centered on the page, following the APA Style 7th edition (full note) guidelines.

  3. Steps for Submitting Manuscripts
    1. Authors should register and check the “author” column on the registration page.
    2. After logging in, click "New Submission". The stages of article submission are as follows:
      ✓ In the Start section, complete all the checklists, then click save and continue.
      ✓ In the Upload Submission section, upload the article manuscript file in MS Word format. Then click save and continue.
      ✓ In the Enter Metadata section, enter the data of all the authors and affiliates. If there is more than one author, click ‘add author’, then fill in their data in the same way as the first author, and so on. Next, fill in the title, abstract, keywords, research methods, and bibliography in each of the available columns.
      ✓ In the Upload Supplementary Files section, it is permissible to upload supporting files: cover letters, author's contribution statements, or other documents.
      ✓ In the Confirmation section, click Finish Submission if all the data are correct.
