Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the Jigsaw learning method on the learning outcomes of class VIII students in social studies subjects at SMP Negeri 10 Pontianak for the 2023/2024 academic year. This research uses a quantitative approach with a quantitative methodology of quasi-experimental design, involving an experimental group (Jigsaw learning method) and a control group (lecture learning method). The results of the research show that there is a significant influence of the Jigsaw learning method on learning outcomes, seen from the Wilcoxon test with a significance value of 0.000 which is less than 0.05. Apart from that, this research also shows that there is no significant influence of the lecture (conventional) learning method on student learning outcomes, as proven through the Paired sample t test with a significance value of 0.067 which is greater than 0.05. The findings of this research show the significant impact of the Jigsaw learning method on learning outcomes, with an effect size of 0.2807 in the category of medium effect.
