Physics Experiment on Traditional Spinning Top Game: A Study of Rotational Dynamics and Its Potential in Physics Learning
Keywords:
Gasing, Angular Momentum, Rotational Equilibrium, Moment of InertiaAbstract
The traditional top game (gasing) is part of Indonesia's cultural legacy and has educational significance, particularly in the realm of physics. This research will look at physics fundamentals in the gasing game, such as rigid body equilibrium, rotation, angular momentum, and moment of inertia. The method utilized was an experimental approach that involved examining the relationship between gas size, rotational speed, and number of spins. The results revealed that gasing with greater mass had a higher angular momentum, resulting in more spins and a longer spinning duration than smaller gasing. Furthermore, the study found that the shape and material of the gasing affect its stability and spinning performance. Thus, the gasing game is not only a source of enjoyment, but it also has the potential to be an effective medium for physics education. Integrating traditional games into teaching can benefit students
