STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS OF SCOUT EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ON THE VALUE OF RESPONSIBILITY CHARACTER IN GRADE V AT SDN 1 PAHANDUT

Abstract

This research is motivated by the existence of scout extracurricular activities, which take place outside regular school hours. These activities aim to help students develop their personalities, interests, and skills beyond academic aspects. Through participation in scouting, students not only enhance their communication and teamwork abilities but also have the opportunity to hone their potential and build positive character traits. One of the main values emphasized in these activities is the value of responsibility, with the expectation that students will be able to apply this attitude in their daily lives. Scouting plays an important role in shaping students into more well-rounded individuals. Type of research uses a quantitative method with a simple linear regression approach to examine students' perceptions of the scouting extracurricular activities (variable X) on the responsibility character values (variable Y) of fifth-grade students at SDN 1 Pahandut. The data collection techniques used are observation sheets, questionnaires, and documentation. The research results indicate a significant influence of scouting extracurricular activities on the character value of responsibility, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, demonstrating an effect between the two variables. This is further supported by the regression R Square value of 0.425, or 42.5%, which is interpreted as moderately strong. Therefore, it is concluded that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In summary, scouting extracurricular activities have a significant impact on the character value of responsibility.
