PENGARUH PEMBERIAN BIOCHAR PELEPAH KELAPA SAWIT TERHADAP SIFAT KIMIA PADA TANAH GAMBUT PEDALAMAN
THE EFFECT OF GIVING BIOCHAR FROM OIL PALM FRONDS ON THE CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF INTERNAL PEAT SOIL

The purpose of this research is: 1.) To determine the chemical properties of deep peat soil in relation to the application of palm oil empty fruit bunch biochar.
2.) To determine the amount of palm oil empty fruit bunch biochar that can improve the chemical properties of inland peat soil. The research was conducted for 3 months (60 days), from November to January 2025. Located at the Greenhouse on Jl. Vila Tirta Mas, Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan Province. The design used in this study is a completely randomized design (CRD) with a 6 x 4 factorial pattern, namely K0 = Without Palm Oil Empty Fruit Bunch Biochar Treatment, K1 = Palm Oil Empty Fruit Bunch Biochar 52 g (6.5 t ha-1), K2 = Palm Oil Empty Fruit Bunch Biochar 109 g (13.5 t ha-1), K3 = Palm Oil Empty Fruit Bunch Biochar 206 g (25.5 t ha-1). The research results show that the application of biochar can significantly increase the content of macro nutrients such as phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), and magnesium (Mg). Conversely, for nitrogen (N) no significant differences were found between treatments, indicating that the application of biochar has not yet been able to significantly affect nitrogen content and soil acidity improvement. The highest biochar dosage (K3) yielded the best results in improving the chemical properties of inland peat soil. This treatment consistently produced the highest values of P, K, Ca, and Mg compared to other dosages and showed significant differences based on statistical tests. Therefore, the K3 dose can be recommended as the optimal dose for improving the chemical fertility of peat soil using palm oil empty fruit bunch biochar.
