Abstract

The potential for developing edamame on peat soils in Palangka Raya City is significant, given the area's extensive peatland area, covering 132,315.2 hectares. Cultivation challenges in peat soil include low pH, high cation exchange capacity, low base saturation, and low nutrient content. Peat soil management with appropriate inputs, such as ameliorants from vermicompost and liquid organic fertilizer, is expected to improve the physical, chemical, and biological properties of peat soil. One potential crop that can be grown on peat soil is edamame. Edamame is highly popular and can be consumed as a healthy and nutritious snack. Edamame is a source of vegetable protein, has larger seeds, a sweeter flavor, and a softer texture than soybeans, thus offering significant market potential both domestically and for export. This study is a continuation of research on organic vermicompost and eco-enzyme fertilizer on edamame growth and yield. The aim is to examine the interaction of vermicompost and eco-enzyme application on edamame growth and yield. The benefits of this research are as a study of the potential for developing edamame plants in peatlands and contributing to scientific knowledge related to growth and yield. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) Factorial (2 factors) and was repeated 4 times, namely: Treatment I Vermicompost (V) consisting of 3 levels: 0, 20 and 40 t.ha-1 and Treatment II Eco Enzyme (E) consisting of 3 levels: 0, 60 and 120 ml/plant. Observation parameters include: number of leaves (leaf), leaf width (cm) fresh pod weight (g), pod length (cm), at the age of 27 HST, 49 HST and at harvest (age 76 HST). The observation data obtained were analyzed using variance with F tests at 5 and 1% levels, if the F test results showed a significant effect, continued with a 5% BNJ test. The provision of vermicompost and eco enzyme with different doses did not significantly differ on plant height, number and width of leaves, and fresh weight of edamame pods. However, the application of 40 t.ha-1 vermicompost and 40 ml eco enzyme/polybag resulted in plant growth and edamame yields tending to increase. The application of vermicompost and eco enzyme effectively increases all the main indicators of soil fertility, such as: pH water content, C-Organic, p-Bray1, K-dd and CEC.

Abstrak

 

Peluang pengembangan tanaman edamame pada tanah gambut di Kota Palangka Raya cukup besar mengingat keberadaan tanah gambut cukup luas yaitu 132.315.2 hektar. Kendala bercocok tanam di tanah gambut adalah pH rendah, kapasitas tukar kation tinggi, kejenuhan basa rendah, kandungan unsur rendah. Pengelolaan tanah gambut dengan input yang tepat yaitu pemberian amelioran dari vermikompos dan pupuk organik cair, diharapkan mampu memperbaiki sifat fisik, kimia dan biologi tanah gambut. Salah satu tanaman potensial yang dapat dikembangkan di tanah gambut adalah edamame. Edamame sangat digemari masyarakat, dapat dikonsumsi sebagai camilan sehat dan bergizi. Edamame merupakan sumber protein nabati, memiliki ukuran biji lebih besar dan rasa lebih manis serta tekstur lebih lembut dibandingkan kacang kedelai, sehingga memiliki peluang pasar yang cukup besar baik dalam negeri maupun skala ekspor.

Penelitian ini merupakan lanjutan penelitian tengang pupuk organik vermikompos dan eco enzyme terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil edamame.  Bertujuan menelaah interaksi pemberiaan vermikompos dan eco enzyme terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil edamame. Manfaat penelitian sebagai kajian potensi pengembangan tanaman edamame di lahan gambut dan sumbangan ilmu pengetahuan terkait petumbuhan dan hasil. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) Faktorial (2 faktor) dan diulang sebanyak 4 kali, yaitu: Perlakuan I Vermikompos (V) terdiri dari 3 taraf: 0, 20 dan 40 t.ha-1 dan Perlakuan II Eco Enzyme (E) yang terdiri dari 3 taraf: 0, 60 dan 120 ml/tanaman. Parameter pengamatan meliputi: jumlah daun (helai), lebar daun (cm)  bobot polong segar (g), panjang polong (cm), pada umur 27 HST, 49 HST dan saat panen (umur 76 HST). Data hasil pengamatan yang diperoleh dilakukan analisis ragam dengan uji F taraf 5 dan 1%, apabila hasil uji F menunjukan pengaruh nyata dilanjutkan dengan uji BNJ 5%. Pemberian vermikompos dan eco enzyme dengan dosis yang berbeda, tidak berbeda nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah dan lebar tahun, dan bobot segar polong edamame. Namun aplikasi vermikompos   40 t.ha-1 dan eco enzyme  40 ml/polibag   menghasil  pertumbuhan tanaman dan hasil edamame yang cenderung meningkat.  Pemberian vermikompos dan eco enzyme efektif meningkatkan semua  indikator utama kesuburan tanah, seperti:  pH kadar air, C-Organik, p-Bray1, K-dd dan KTK.
