The curriculum is a crucial component of education, serving as a guideline for achieving learning objectives. Because it is dynamic, the curriculum needs to be continually developed to remain relevant to student needs and current developments. This study aims to analyze the principles of curriculum development in elementary schools through a Systematic Literature Review approach. Data sources include 5 book references and 19 scientific journal articles published between 2020 and 2026. The analysis shows that curriculum development is continuous and plays a crucial role in achieving educational objectives, thus needing to be adapted to student needs, current developments, and societal demands. In its implementation, the curriculum must refer to the principles of relevance, flexibility, continuity, efficiency, and effectiveness for optimal and meaningful learning. A well-designed curriculum can improve various student abilities, such as literacy, critical thinking, creativity, and independent learning. Therefore, curriculum development needs to be carried out adaptively and continuously to make the educational process more effective and able to produce competent and characterful students.
