Relationship Between Workload of Medical Laboratory Technologists and Quality of laboratory services

Abstract

The quality of laboratory services is greatly influenced by human resources in this case ATLM as a determinant of diagnosis. One of the obstacles to the realization of good service quality is the mismatch between staff capacity and their work. This mismatch is caused by the composition of staff expertise or skills that are not yet proportional, or because the distribution of staff still does not refer to real needs or workload in the field. A high workload can certainly cause undesirable negative things. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the workload of medical laboratory technology personnel and the quality of laboratory services at Mitra Husada Pringsewu Hospital. This study is a type of quantitative analytical correlation research. The population in this study were all ATLM and patients using Laboratory services totaling 20 people who were taken through inclusion and exclusion criteria. The Independent Variable of the study is the workload of ATLM while the dependent variable is the quality of laboratory services. Data collection using a questionnaire. Data analysis used the Spearman Rank Correlation statistical test. The results of the study showed that the workload of Medical Laboratory Technology Experts at Mitra Husada Pringsewu Hospital was mostly (85%) in the Moderate category. The quality of laboratory services at Mitra Husada Pringsewu Hospital is mostly (70%) in the Good category. There is a strong relationship between the workload of Medical Laboratory Technologists and the quality of laboratory services with a sig value of 0.002 where <0.05, and a correlation coefficient value of -0.642 which is negative, meaning that the lighter the workload, the higher the quality of service, and conversely, the higher the workload, the lower the quality of laboratory services.
