Analisis Faktor-Faktor Keterbukaan Generasi Muda terhadap Westernisasi dalam Konteks Budaya Indonesia

In this modern era, the term Westernization has spread everywhere. This research examines the factors influencing the openness of the younger generation to westernization in the context of culture in Indonesia. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with primary data collected through interviews with 79 individuals. The results of the study found that factors influencing the openness of the younger generation to westernization include the influence of social media, Western culture, and the desire to appear cool. The influence of social media causes the younger generation to exhibit FOMO or fear of missing out. Western culture leads the younger generation to be consumptive, and they also aspire to appear cool through the use of Jakarta slang (Jaksel). Positive impacts of westernization were also found, such as technological advancements, improvement in education quality, and proficiency in the English language. However, westernization has negative impacts such as the erosion of local culture, social disparities, and economic gaps. Therefore, the researcher concludes that responding to the wave of westernization must be accompanied by wisdom to preserve the values and cultural identity of Indonesia.
