Abstract

This research examines the interaction dynamics of Generation Z in shaping national identity through social media, especially the Instagram platform among university students. National identity is a key aspect of identity that is inherent to a country and is not shared by other nations. Through a literature study approach, this research analyzes how Generation Z uses Instagram to define and express their national identity, and how interactions between individuals on this platform influence perceptions of national identity. The data is analyzed through observations of behavioral patterns, values, and symbols that emerge in their online interactions. The results highlight the complexity of social interactions that contribute to the process of national identity formation in the digital era. The findings provide a better understanding of the role of social media in shaping Generation Z's identity, as well as the importance of paying attention to online interactions in the context of national identity formation for an increasingly digitally connected generation. This study contributes to the understanding of how social media influences perceptions of national identity, particularly among university students, and its implications in the context of national identity formation in the digital age.
