The low level of students’ understanding of atmospheric layer concepts and the limited variety of digital learning media have become significant obstacles in the geography learning process at SMA Negeri 1 Air Putih. Learning activities are still predominantly dominated by conventional methods, such as the use of whiteboards and textbooks, which tend to make students passive and hinder their comprehension of abstract concepts. In response to these issues, this study aims to develop an interactive and engaging animated video–based learning medium using the Powtoon application. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research subjects were 28 students of class X-3 at SMA Negeri 1 Air Putih. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and tests. The validation process involved subject matter experts, media experts, and educational practitioners. The results showed that the developed learning media obtained a feasibility score of 90% from both subject matter and media experts, categorized as “Very Feasible,” and a practicality score of 95% from teachers, categorized as “Very Practical.” The effectiveness of the media was demonstrated by an improvement in students’ learning outcomes, with an N-Gain score of 0.77 or 76.81%, which falls into the “Effective” category. Therefore, Powtoon-based learning media are proven to be suitable as an innovative alternative to enhance students’ geography learning outcomes, particularly on the topic of atmospheric layers
