Abstract

This study aimed to identify the processing flow of palm oil from Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) into Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and to determine the factors affecting processing efficiency at PT. Katingan Indah Utama. The research employed a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires, then analyzed using the Urgency, Seriousness, and Growth (USG) method. The results showed that the processing flow starts from FFB reception at the loading ramp, followed by sterilization, threshing, digesting, pressing, and clarification to produce CPO according to company standards. Based on the USG analysis, the most influential factor affecting processing efficiency was unstable sterilizer pressure during the sterilization process, with a score of 93. Other factors included machine disturbances that interrupted subsequent processing stages (score 87), minor damages that were not immediately repaired and developed into major failures (score 87), steam leakage in the sterilizer (score 83), and unstable press pressure (score 83). The findings indicate that machine technical conditions and maintenance systems are the primary factors influencing the efficiency of FFB processing into CPO.
