Abstract

Opinion refers to an individual’s perspective or personal viewpoint shaped by thoughts and experiences. In Indonesia, the right to express opinions is constitutionally protected under Article 28E paragraph (3) of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, which guarantees freedom of association, assembly, and expression. Despite this legal protection, many individuals still experience hesitation and fear when expressing their views, including students from the 2023 cohort of Economic Education. This study aims to identify solutions that can strengthen students’ confidence and encourage them to express opinions critically and responsibly. The research employed a questionnaire distributed to Economic Education students to examine their perceptions and challenges regarding self-expression. The findings reveal that a considerable number of students still feel anxious or lack confidence in voicing their ideas in academic settings. Nevertheless, the results are expected to serve as a foundation for developing strategies that foster courage, critical thinking skills, and a more supportive learning environment for students.
