Academic burnout is a condition that students may experience due to continuous academic demands. One psychological factor related to students’ ability to cope with academic demands is self-compassion. This study aimed to determine the relationship between self-compassion and academic burnout among eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 5 Tasikmalaya. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population consisted of 502 students, with a sample of 223 students determined using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error and selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using the Indonesian Self-Compassion Scale and an academic burnout scale and were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment correlation. The results showed a correlation coefficient of -0.374 with p < 0.001, indicating a significant negative relationship of moderate strength. The coefficient of determination was 0.140, indicating 14% shared variation between self-compassion and academic burnout. Thus, higher self-compassion was associated with lower academic burnout. However, the correlational design does not establish a causal relationship.
