Abstract

This research aims to analyze the leadership role of school principals in implementing the independent curriculum in educational units. This research used a descriptive quantitative approach which was carried out in 21 driving schools and 21 schools in the independent category in Kudus Regency. Data collection techniques were carried out using interviews and a cross-sectional survey type design with questionnaire instruments and data analysis was carried out descriptively and narratively. The results of the research show that in the leadership of the school principal the driving force has carried out planning, implementation and evaluation in the Implementation of the Independent Curriculum (IKM). In planning it got a score of 3,58% and in preparing the KOSP it included elements of sacred local wisdom and involved teachers, students, the community, supervisors and got a score of 3,6% with very good criteria. In its implementation, it obtained a score of 3,2% with good criteria and it was seen that the effectiveness of the principal's leadership obtained a score of 4,65%, with the highest score in reflection activities and parent involvement. The leadership of school principals in driving schools with the challenges and obstacles they face has acted as a catalyst for change in the school environment and especially in surrounding schools that implement the Independent Curriculum independently.
