Analisis Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa Ditinjau Dari Self Confidence dalam Pelajaran IPS Siswa SDN 9 Singkawang

This study aims to: (1) examine students’ critical thinking skills in Social Studies at SD Negeri 9 Singkawang; (2) identify the level of students’ self-confidence in the same subject; and (3) analyze students’ critical thinking abilities in relation to their self-confidence. The research employed a qualitative approach using a naturalistic method conducted in a real classroom setting. The population consisted of all 24 fifth-grade students, who were also selected as the research sample through purposive sampling based on specific criteria: low, moderate, and high levels of critical thinking ability. Data were gathered through written tests, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The analysis involved score measurement, questionnaire evaluation, interview interpretation, and supporting documentation review. The findings revealed that 4 students demonstrated high critical thinking skills, 12 showed moderate ability, and 8 were categorized as low, with an average score of 64.58, indicating a moderate level. Regarding self-confidence, 8 students were classified as high, 11 as moderate, and 5 as low, with a mean score of 67, also within the moderate range. Overall, both critical thinking skills and self-confidence among students were generally at a moderate level, although several students still exhibited relatively low performance in both aspects.
