Research Misconduct Policy

Definition 1) Research misconduct refers to fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or plagiarism in conducting, reviewing, or reporting research.
2) This includes unethical behavior in data collection, data analysis, manuscript preparation, or publication.
3) Such misconduct undermines the credibility of scientific records and violates academic integrity.
4) The editorial board is responsible for maintaining accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record when misconduct is identified.
Editorial Action and Investigation 1) Preliminary Assessment – Editors assess whether the allegation is credible and if the complainant has any potential conflict of interest.
2) Notification to Authors – Corresponding author is notified and asked to provide a detailed explanation.
3) Evaluation of Response – Editorial board reviews the author’s explanation; independent experts may be consulted if needed.
4) Decision and Outcome
   a) If misconduct is confirmed, manuscript is rejected.
   b) If misconduct occurs in a published article, a retraction notice is issued and linked.
   c) If issue is an honest error, a correction or editorial note may be issued instead of retraction.
Institutional Responsibility 1) Authors’ affiliated institutions are expected to conduct a formal investigation of alleged misconduct.
2) JIED will cooperate fully with institutional inquiries to ensure an objective and transparent resolution.
3) Authors, reviewers, editors, and institutions share ethical obligations to preserve integrity and reliability of the scientific record.
Retraction Policy 1) Articles may be retracted if findings are unreliable due to misconduct or honest error.
2) Articles previously published elsewhere without proper cross-referencing, permission, or justification may be retracted (redundant publication).
3) Articles containing plagiarized material or unethical research content may be retracted.
4) All retraction processes follow COPE Retraction Guidelines.
Ethical Commitment 1) By adhering to these procedures, JIED reaffirms its commitment to maintaining validity, trustworthiness, and integrity of the academic record.
2) Allegations of research misconduct will be handled in accordance with COPE best practices.
