The Journal of Islamic Education and Intellectual Discourse (JIED) Volume 2, Issue 2, June 2026 highlights contemporary discussions on Islamic education, intellectual transformation, and the development of Islamic thought in response to changing social and educational contexts. The articles in this edition explore the transformation of Islamic knowledge through a comparative analysis of Hadith scholarship in the Malay-Indonesian Archipelago, while also presenting critical reflections on Islamic educational epistemology through Siti Walidah’s gender vision and Islamic feminist pedagogy. This issue further examines the relevance of Buya Hamka’s humanist dakwah in addressing the moral challenges faced by Generation Z in the social media era, alongside research on religious moderation as an approach to strengthening Generation Z’s tolerance within contemporary digital society. In the field of Islamic learning practice, the edition presents empirical studies on the role of self-efficacy in students’ Qur’anic tahsin ability and the effectiveness of personalized sorogan-based learning in improving Nahwu learning outcomes at a pesantren. The issue concludes with an intellectual and pedagogical contribution through the development of an Islamic Self-Regulated Learning (I-SRL) framework that integrates Az-Zarnuji’s educational thought with contemporary learning theory. Overall, this edition reflects JIED’s commitment to advancing interdisciplinary scholarship that connects Islamic intellectual traditions, educational philosophy, pedagogy, character formation, and contemporary social challenges. Through historical, conceptual, and empirical approaches, Volume 2, Issue 2 contributes to the renewal of Islamic educational thought while demonstrating how classical Islamic knowledge can be critically contextualized within contemporary educational and social realities.
